Magento migration without losing sales, data, or rankings.

Magento 1 hit end-of-life in 2020; every month on it is a security and PCI liability. Reed Dynamic migrates stores to Magento 2 — catalog, customers, orders, URLs, and integrations — with parallel builds and rehearsed cutovers so the live store keeps selling.

Magento 2 storefront after migration

Magento migration services from Reed Dynamic cover Magento 1 to Magento 2 upgrades and replatforming from Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, or custom carts to Magento 2. Typical cost is $25,000–$80,000 over 10–20 weeks, with every URL 301-redirected and integrations rebuilt. A recent migration delivered 30% faster page loads and a 25% conversion lift.

Our migration process

  1. Audit

Inventory extensions, customizations, integrations, catalog structure, and every indexed URL. Output: a fixed bid and an extension disposition list.

  2. Build in parallel

Magento 2 store on staging with Hyvä or your chosen theme; custom modules rebuilt; ERP, payment, shipping, tax reconnected.

  3. Migrate & rehearse

Data migration scripted and run repeatedly against fresh exports until diffs are zero. Redirect map generated and tested.

  4. Cut over

Low-traffic window, DNS switch, final delta migration, redirect verification, rollback plan on standby.

  5. Stabilize

Search Console monitoring, performance tuning, and a 30-day post-launch support window.

What gets migrated

  • Catalog — products, configurable/bundle relationships, attributes, categories, images, tier prices
  • Customers — accounts, addresses, groups, and (where the source allows) password hashes so nobody has to reset
  • Orders & history — orders, invoices, shipments, credit memos for customer-facing history and reporting
  • Content — CMS pages, blocks, blog posts, reviews
  • SEO — URL rewrites, metadata, canonical structure, structured data, XML sitemap
  • Integrations — ERP, WMS, payments, shipping, tax, email, analytics — rebuilt on Magento 2 APIs

Magento migration FAQs

How much does a Magento 1 to Magento 2 migration cost?

Typically $25,000–$80,000. The biggest drivers are the number of custom Magento 1 extensions that need rebuilding (M1 code does not port to M2), catalog and order volume, theme complexity, and integrations. A paid discovery ($2,500–$5,000) produces a fixed bid.

How long does a Magento migration take?

10–20 weeks for most stores. We run the new Magento 2 store in parallel, migrate data in rehearsals, and cut over during a low-traffic window with a rollback plan — so the live store keeps selling throughout.

Will I lose SEO rankings when migrating to Magento 2?

Not if it's done right. We inventory every indexed URL, map each to its Magento 2 equivalent with 301 redirects, preserve titles, metadata, and structured data, and monitor Search Console after cutover. Our migration SEO checklist is the process we follow.

Should I migrate from Magento 1 or move to Shopify?

If your catalog is simple and you don't need B2B pricing, multi-store, or deep ERP integration, Shopify may be cheaper to run. If you rely on those — or on customizations Shopify can't do — Magento 2 is the right destination. We'll tell you honestly on the discovery call; read our platform comparison.

Can you migrate from Shopify or WooCommerce to Magento 2?

Yes. Products, categories, customers, orders, reviews, and content are exported, transformed, and loaded into Magento 2 with attribute mapping and validation. Shopify handles (URLs) and WooCommerce permalinks are redirected 1:1.

What happens to my Magento 1 extensions?

Each is evaluated: replace with core Magento 2 functionality, replace with a maintained M2 extension, or rebuild as a custom module. We give you that list with costs before the project starts — it's usually the biggest cost variable.

Do you handle Magento 2 version upgrades too?

Yes. Minor and major version upgrades (e.g., 2.3 → 2.4.x), PHP version moves, and extension compatibility work are common retainer items.

Still on Magento 1 or an outgrown cart?

Send us your store URL. We'll come back with an extension audit and a fixed-scope migration bid.
